How To Play Blackjack - Basic Blackjack Rules
By http://www.mysportsbookonline.info/

Blackjack is a relatively simple game to play and of all the games at casinos, blackjack has one of the best odds for the player. If you thoroughly understand the rules of blackjack, you should be pretty good at the game, but like any game, the house always has the best odds.

If you sit down at the table, you will obviously have to make your bet prior to seeing your cards. Once you make your bet, you, the other players, and the dealer will be dealt two cards. Your cards will be faced up and the dealer will have one faced down and one faced up.

The goal of the game is to get 21, or as close to it as you can without going over. The first thing you need to know is what all the cards in the game are worth. Cards 2-10 are all worth their face value and Jack, Queen, and King are all worth 10. Ace is worth 1 or 11, it's up to you and whichever value will help you the most is the one you will use. If you are dealt an Ace and a 10-valued card, the ace will be valued as 11 and you will have a total of 21 which in this case is called blackjack.

If the dealer has a 10-valued card or an Ace facing up, he or she will look at the card facing down to check if the dealer has a blackjack or not. If the dealer does have a blackjack and you have a blackjack, it's a tie and is considered a push. If you don't have a blackjack, you lose and the hand is over.

If the dealer doesn't have blackjack and you don't have blackjack, you will get the option to "hit." When you hit, you will be given one more card that will be added to your current total. If you hit once and you still want to hit again, you can. You can hit as many times as you want, as long as you don't go over 21. If you go over 21, you will bust and lose the hand. If you hit and

get 21 exactly, you will not have blackjack. Blackjack is only if you have an Ace and a 10-valued card.

If you're feeling lucky and you have a good starting hand, but want just one more card, you have the option to double down. If you double down, you will have to double your bet and you will be given just one more card, which will be dealt face down. If you do that, you will not be able to hit or get any more cards. If you win the hand, you will win double what you originally bet before seeing any cards because you doubled your bet.

If you are dealt two of the same cards, such as two Kings, you will have the option to split. What this would do is give you two separate hands. You would have to put out more money (the same as whatever you bet prior) and you will be dealt two more cards; one for each King. Then you play both hands like they were completely separate hands.

Once all the players have finished with their hands, the dealer will play. The dealer stands on 17, which means the dealer will hit until his or her hand is 17 or greater. Once the dealer has 17, he or she will hold. If the dealer is dealt a 17 to start with, the dealer will hold, so you must have 18 or greater to win. You must beat the dealer to win, so all ties besides blackjack go to the dealer. If the dealer goes over 21, the dealer busts and everyone who did not bust wins.
